Who and What is L4C?

Limerick for Change is a local environmental and social justice group (?) that has been in existence since June '01.  It was formed when a couple of local people decided to highlight the importance of the G8 meeting in July '02 in Genoa, to the people of Limerick.  A march was organised in the city focusing on the 'Drop the Debt' Campaign, and Fair Trade not Free Trade.  Some local people then travelled by bus to Genoa in July along with 100 other Irish people from all walks of life.  They wanted to let the 8 most powerful governments in the world know that the world was watching their decisions, that people of from every town and country worldwide were aware how interconnected global and local issues are, and the real action needs to be taken by everyone.

We are a non-hierachical group with no political affiliations.

After a year's existence this group has gone from strength to strength.   We have a wide variety of active people in the group, from all age groups and walks of life, mostly living in Limerick City and County.  Please go to our campaigns page to find out the latest! We meet fortnightly so please come along to a  meeting if you'd like to find out more.  New people are always welcome.  There is no member-ship fee. You can also join our e-mailing list for regular updates on local and some national campaigns.
